Wedding Bows, and more Bows in Raleigh

They sure do love their bows in Raleigh. I think it's time the ass-bow took a bow, but I doubt the people in Raleigh are with me on this.

1 ass-bow...

2 ass-bow (you have to see this one from the fron too to get the full effect)...

3 ass-bow...

4....

5 ass-bow...

Shame on you Raleigh...need I really say more?

From NYC. Classy ladies. Real Classy.

And I quote: "This is the SEXIEST, most original WEDDING DRESS that is NOT OVERDONE. It looks FABULOUS in pictures and is STUNNING in real life." (not my caps).

Not to be outdone, this ad claims the dress is below is the: "MOST BEAUTIFUL DRESS EVER." (not my caps). Top looks like lingerie, bottom looks like shaving cream that's melting. Perhaps "MOST INVENTIVE USE OF SHAVING CREAM".

Even designers have an off day. This is a Monique Lhuillier. Yes, someone in NYC wore this to her wedding, and now wants you to share in the magic. You too, little girl, can fulfill your dreams of being the star of Swan Lake, and on your wedding day to boot.

And finally, an unknown from NYC who claims to have made/designed these dresses. I'd say considering what else is out there, I'd give this one a shot. Check out the ad for contact info.

Fugly in DC

You would think that people living in Washington DC would know better than to wear a Fugly wedding dress. The scrutiny in this city is relentless-who doesn't remember the political outrage at Hilary Clinton's hairstyle when she first became first lady? It was the talk of the town here for years!

Looking through the Washington's Craigslist Classifieds is really an exercise in how boring and conformist a city that worships power and influence really is. Loads of white, off-white, and tastefully embellished strapless wedding gowns, most in the $1,000-3,000 range, costly enough to show social status, but never flashy enough to offend any particular constituency.

But even politically correct Washington cannot seem to escape the FUGLY wedding dress. For only $150 you can own this beautiful dress, complete with "small pink roses/white pearls and embroidery on the top bodice," AND a detachable 7 foot train.

The seller even provides us with a close up
of the pink roses, white pearls, and embroidery. It looks like some kind of wedding dress embellishment blender threw up on this dress and spewed forth every kind of wedding-type cutsie dress accessory available at your local crafts store.

From the back, the dress of course features the ass-saddle bow, complete with tiny pink roses. I suggest that whoever may be crazy enough to buy this dress wear the detachable 7 foot train-perhaps people will be too busy trying not to trip over it to notice the dress itself!

I showed this great find to my boyfriend, hopeful he would agree with me that this dress was the epitome of FUGLY! "It doesn't look that bad," he said. "You really think it's ugly?" Note to self: NEVER let him pick out clothes for me.

Giving thanks for Toronto

Today, I was browsing Toronto Craigslist classifides . The first dress I came upon was an amazing find-every bad fashion trend of the 80's combined here in one dress . The ad called this "amazing vintage." I find it amazing that someone bought it in the first place, and even more amazing that this someone thinks anyone else would spend money on it.

Even more exciting, this wonderment of Canadian design (I can only assume such ugly was made in Canada), came complete with alternate views and close ups. Notice the lovely ginormous rose pinned lovingly on your hip. Perfect for covering up stains, lipstick, and bulging thighs. Oh, and the beautiful puff sleeves! How better to spend an evening than to be a walking safety hazard.

I think the fake pearls give it a particular sense of elegance..don't you? And all for the low low price of $50. A true bargain.

I was getting giddy with what wedding dress wonderful blunders Toronto's Craigslist might hold, when to my great surprise, I came upon a real treasure trove of absolutely beautiful wedding dresses for sale. (I have emailed the owner of the ad to find out who the designer is.

The ad describes these beauties as "made in Italy." True or not, whoever designed these deserves more credit than Craigslist obscurity.

Dress 1:

I am absolutely awed by this dress: so simple, and yet so beautiful. The clean lines and form right away made me think Jackie O, and how refreshing to see some other neckline than strapless. And the color? Love the subtle pinkish hue. I almost don't even want to say anything about it-I really think it speaks for itself. The ad claims it was bought for $1300, but they are willing to take $100!!! $100, that is only $50 less than the first dress!!

Dress 2:

This past season, there have been a lot of these sashed dresses going around. The standard dress is a strapless white gown, with a wide sash-possibly a tan color, or a wine red, and today, I even saw a bright blue one. Although I have never been a fan of the sash, I love this twist. Love the sleeve, love the clean line, love the color, love the sash theme on the sleeve.

The ad offers the dress for $200! It's hard to stop myself from buying these. Maybe I should just in case.....
